IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary E.
Brzezicki
October 19, 1920 – December 18, 2015
Mary E. (Betty) Brzezicki (nee Darling), of Granite Farms Estates, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2015. Mary was born in 1920 in Chester to a family of ten brothers and sisters and attended local schools through high school. Upon the outbreak of World War II, Mary enlisted in the US Military at the age of 23, in what was then known as the Woman's Army Corps. Mary was assigned to the European Division of the Adjutant Generals Section of the US Air Transport Command in posts in England and France during the war years, rising to the rank of S/Sgt. She was awarded a Medal of Commendation in 2002 by the French Government for her services in the liberation of France during the war years. After her Honorable Discharge in 1945, she returned to the Delaware County area, working for several local businesses.
In 1948, Mary married the late Stanley Brzezicki of Chester. While her husband pursued a career with the Philadelphia Electric Co., Mary owned and operated her own successful beauty salon in the west end of Chester for 22 years, while raising two children. In 1972, Mary moved to a career in banking, serving in various administrative and customer relations positions at several local commercial and consumer financial institutions, retiring in 1980.
After her retirement and that of her husband Stanley, the couple spent their latter years enjoying their shared interests which included time at their beach home, gardening, and Mary's passion for cooking and entertaining friends at their home. Both were volunteers for Meals on Wheels for many years.
Following the death of Stanley in 1995, Mary moved to Granite Farms Estates where she continued to volunteer her time assisting those with medical needs and limitations.
Mary is survived by her daughter Mary Ann, her son Stan, and her grandson, Eli.
Mary was laid to rest with her beloved husband Stanley in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery on December 21, 2015. Arrangements: Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, Aston. Funeral Mass and Burial: Private.
