Obituary

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Michael John Argibay, age 23, of Glen Mills, PA, our most beloved son, brother, family member and friend passed away from what is believed to have been a massive heart attack on Wednesday, August 5, 2020.

Those who knew Michael, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. He was funny, vivacious, had a great sense of humor and there was nothing better than to be enveloped in one of his huge bear hugs! We will always remember his infectious smile, contagious laugh and caring personality. Michael was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. He loved his siblings deeply and had a unique and impenetrable bond with his sister, Christine. His three nephews, two of whom were his Godsons, were the lights of his life. He adored them and they couldn't get enough of him!  Being an uncle, whether reading, dancing or chasing them around the playground brought him endless joy.  Michael or "Hubs" as his friends affectionately called him, had a passion for golf and music, was an avid sports enthusiast and a lifelong fan of all the Philadelphia area professional sports teams.

Michael graduated with honors from Garnet Valley High School, class of 2016. He competed on the golf team, was co-captain in 2015 and was a member of the Varsity Club. He was also in the Spanish honor society achieving his goal of fluency in 4 years. Speaking Spanish – an ode to his paternal heritage - gave him the opportunity to bridge gaps and connect with those he wouldn't have been able to speak with otherwise.  After much debate, he chose to attend Arizona State University where he was invited to participate in their Leadership program. Although he was currently on sabbatical, he had been pursuing a degree in International Business. Michael always enjoyed learning new things and thanks to the guidance and support of his best friend, Graham Ketrick, he became a quick study as a plumber's apprentice following in the footsteps of his maternal grandfather.

When you think of Michael, remember the good times. Life can be fragile and short so live each day to the fullest and do it without regrets.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, John Argibay, his grandparents William T. Mahoney, Juan and Aurora Argibay and long-time best friend Dan Santamarina. He leaves behind his mother, Linda Mahoney, sisters Lauren Schlichter and Christine Philbin, Christine's husband, Patrick, brother, John Argibay, three nephews Wesley Melkonian, Oliver and Henry Philbin, his grandmother, Irene Mahoney and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

We love and miss you so much, my son, my "Mushka", my best guy in the whole world. You will remain in our hearts forever. XOXO
