Obituary

Michael J. Federowicz, Jr., age 74, passed away on June 17, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born in Chester, PA to the late Michael and Catherine (Neary) Federowicz who raised him in their Highland Gardens home with his older brother James and younger sister Judith. During his younger years, at the age of 15, he met who would later become the love of his life and the center of his adoration for the remainder of his days. Mike and Brenda developed a close friendship that carried on into high school where that friendship changed into love. That love later carried them down the aisle at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church where they made their vows in 1971. He was a graduate of Chester High School and soon after attended his four-year apprenticeship at the Philadelphia Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship program where he became a member of Carpenters Local Union #845, Delaware County. With his forever love at his side, Mike was able to use his trade and work ethic to build a life worth living. Purchasing their first home in Chester, PA and later moving to Aston, PA in 1978. There in Aston, Mike and Brenda began their own family raising two sons, Paul and Mark, whom Mike loved dearly. He spent 45 years of his life guiding the way as a father that taught his sons lessons of friendship, compromise, responsibility, teamwork, and patience. His boys would learn that hard work and dedication to family are the basis of long-lasting bonds that will carry you through a lifetime. Mike was an avid outdoorsman who had grown up hunting with his uncles and cousins. His love for fishing was forged by his father-in-law, John Bazylewicz. Mike and Brenda would spend many years traveling to hunt in Wayne County with close friends and fishing in Ocean City, MD with family and then teaching their sons to do the same. As a member of Delaware County Field and Stream Association, he enjoyed time shooting at the club or fishing at the creek. He retired from his career as a carpenter in his 50s and spent many years caring for his mother-in-law, Laura Bazylewicz, whom Mike loved like a second mother. When Brenda followed Mike into retirement, they spent many years attending auctions where they forged new friendships and built a hobby of buying and selling to fund their retirement. Mike was known affectionately to many as 'White Thunder' and he embraced his nickname! All would say that he always had a smile on his face and a witty line to make you laugh hysterically. He could surprise you at times by being a goofball when you least expected it. Mike enjoyed a cold beer and a Phillies or Eagles game. He had many joys in his life, but loved his cat, Rocket. Most of all, Mike loved his family, always putting their needs before his own. Mike considered his grandchildren to be the best 4 gifts that life gave him. They were always his first concern and his primary reason for smiling over the last ten years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Aston, PA. Mike was the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Neary) Federowicz and brother of the late James Federowicz. Mike is survived by his wife of 52 years: Brenda (Bazylewicz) Federowicz, his 2 Sons: Paul Michael Federowicz (Kristen) and Mark John Federowicz (Kelly), his sister: Judy Crampton, 4 grandchildren: Zoe, Mark Jr., Braden, and Evin Michael. A viewing for Mike will be held Monday, June 24, 2024, from 10:00-11:15am at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, which is located at 5980 Chichester Ave., Aston, PA.
