IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael S.
Maccoll
March 5, 1972 – November 21, 2023
It is with profound sorrow that the parents of Michael Shannon MacColl announce their beloved son was taken away into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 21st at Einstein Medical Hospital in Philadelphia. Michael was born on March 5, 1972, and lived his life in Wilmington, DE. He graduated from Delaware Technical Vocational School with a degree in welding. His career spanned many facets including Pappy's Pizza restaurant, welding, Asplundh Tree Experts, and MBNA bank. Prior to being forced into retirement due to his many health issues, he fulfilled his passion for trains when he started as a shuttle driver for railroad transportation services with Norfolk Southern Railroad. This position advanced him to Freight Conductor for NFS after being selected for one of 64 positions available from a pool of 300 applicants. Michael was the proud owner of a 1972 Barracuda, a most unique muscle car with blue and white detail, 318 board and stroked to a 340. The sound of this vehicle on the road was awesome! Michael filled his days with many hobbies and spending time with his parents with whom he lived. He loved caring for his cat, Emmit, and most recently caring for three stray cats in the neighborhood making sure they were well taken care of. He enjoyed sharpening his culinary skills by experimenting with many recipes which brought joy to him and his parents. He enjoyed many forms of music and enjoyed playing guitar and listening to some of his favorite bands. The last 7 years of his blessed life were spent at Mifflin County Shooting Range with his dad where they shot 1,040 yard targets. They also traveled in Delaware and to Pennsylvania to some of the most challenging ranges. However, long-range target practice was his favorite. His dream was to rent an RV and travel to Florida to one of the country's premier target ranges. Michael was also a member of the Delaware State Pistol Club and an avid supporter of Alex's Acres, formerly Alexander's Sporting Farms, Galena, MD. Mike and his dad spent at least 4 days a week target shooting. He will be deeply missed by both his mom and dad. Michael's faith was in Jesus Christ with the promise of scripture in 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 "to be absent from the body and to be present with the LORD" Rest in peace dearest son and eternal friend and our many conversations about "this and that"... 'til then... Michael was pre-deceased in death by his loving grandparents, Joseph and Mary Labricciosa and Hugh and Hilda MacColl and cousin Hailey Batchelor. He is survived by his parents John and MaryAnn MacColl, Aunt Judi Simpson (Bill), Uncles Anthony Gabriel (Pam) and James MacColl (Sarajo), cousins Lisa Bhatti (Shaf), Brian Swafford (Audra), Kristen Timothy (Giff), Carmen Swafford, Jimmy MacColl II, Linda MacColl, and many other extended family and friends. The family requests no flowers or mass cards. In lieu of flowers and/or mass cards please donate to a charity of the donor's choice.
