Obituary

Michael James Tancredi, 53, of Media, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2023, from complications resulting from acute pancreatitis. The illness was sudden, taking his family and friends off-guard and leaving us greatly saddened. Michael was born in Media on November 11, 1969, to Louis A. Tancredi and Anne Norpel Tancredi. After graduating from Penncrest High School in 1988, Michael went on to study Business Administration at Temple University. During college, Michael studied abroad in Italy and became fluent in Italian, later teaching Italian language classes and becoming beloved by his students. He was very curious, asked many questions, and read widely to continue to learn throughout his life. Michael enjoyed traveling and made friends around the world. A great pleasure of his was playing cards and teaching anyone his favorite game, Scopa. He had a new joke to tell you each time you saw him and was quick-witted, thinking of many terrible puns on the spot. He brought joy to his family with his hilarious impressions and was the hit of the annual Tancredi Talent Show with his a Cappella singing numbers. Michael's sociability was legendary. He loved people and enjoyed spending time with the many folks in his life. A generous and steadfast friend to everyone he knew, Michael was an easy laugher and talker. Michael was always willing to drive to visit his relatives and friends and was known as "king of the highways." Michael was a loyal Philadelphia sports fan and could talk for hours about his Eagles. He had countless friends, colleagues, and acquaintances and was a born caretaker to everyone. Michael created many happy memories for us all, and our hearts ache already from missing him. Michael was predeceased by his mother, Anne N. Tancredi, and an older brother, Jon G. Tancredi. He is survived by his father, Louis A. Tancredi (Maureen M. Tancredi) brothers, Tony Tancredi, Lou Tancredi, Steve Tancredi, Shaun Miller, and Michael Miller (Carolyn Miller), sisters Maria Zerr (John Zerr), Anne Lenicky (Alex Lenicky), Susan Waters (Dale Waters), and his nephews and nieces whom he adored, Shane, Siena, and Willow Zerr, Christina and Matthew Tancredi, Jenna and Jack Tancredi, Tanner Lenicky, Dale III, Cassie (Jae), Wynn, and Landry Waters, Molly and Shaun Miller, and Liam, Luke, and Drew Miller. A public visitation will be held on May 3, 2023, from 8:30-10:15 a.m. at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave. in Aston, PA, followed by a Celebration of Life at 10:30 a.m. Should you wish, you are welcome to make a contribution in Michael's memory to either the Nether Providence Elementary School Library at 410 Moore Road in Wallingford, PA, 19086, or to Believe Big at https://www.believebig.org/, a cancer charity that Michael supported.
