Obituary

Mildred Lauretta Van Ess, age 85, passed away November 25, 2016.  She was born  on February 11, 1931 in York, PA. She spent most of her adult life in Swedesboro , NJ, Garnet Valley and Morton, PA. She was a 1949 graduate of Chester High School.  After her husband's retirement from Sun Oil, they enjoyed many years traveling in their RV, several cruises, and  many winters in Florida.  She will be missed by many.  She had multitudes of beloved friends.  She never met a stranger.  She made friends easily during her travels, including the "Toll Booth Lady" from the Commodore Barry Bridge, who remained a dear and supportive friend until the end.

She was preceded in death by her parents Horace and Mildred Fredd, her husband of 52 years Cornelius Van Ess III, and her step-son Cornelius IV.

Survivors:  Children: Mildred Kay Gagliardi (Frank) of Media, PA , David (Mario Korenstein) of Richboro, PA, Fredd of Wagontown, PA and Laurie Kunkle (Dave) of Woolwich, NJ. Brother: H. Robert Fredd of Swedesboro, NJ 6 Grandchildren and 3 Greats, whom she adored.  A very special daughter in law: Marsha Jones,  along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Our family would like to thank the nurses and  caregivers at the many medical facilities she visited during her strong, courageous and gracious battle with Parkinson's.  Her desire to live and enjoy life, regardless of her ailments, was a true testament to her character and acceptance of the Lord's will in her life.  She will be remembered for her unconditional love and her great sense of humor.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Mom's memory to Compassion International.  She continually supported her grandchildrens' involvement with the charity, including their multiple volunteer trips to Africa, and Guatemala to help children in need.  http://www.compassion.com/donate-to-charity.htm
