Obituary

Miriam M. Ersek (Mimi), of Glen Mills, PA passed away on April 24, 2019 at the age of 77.  The daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy Neidermyer, from Lancaster County, was born on January 12, 1942 in Springfield, PA.  She is survived by her husband, Barry R. Ersek, Ed.D. of almost 60 years; their daughters, Cindee Ersek Battin and Cheree Colleen Mull; Cheree's children:  Dustin, Cody, Annabella and Shane.  Mimi is also survived by their two sons; Ted Rittenhouse Ersek (wife Judy), and their son, Jacob; and Barrett Andrew Ersek (wife Kristina) and their children:  Tucker, Reef, Kaitlyn (husband Andrew Bagwell), and Leah (husband Richard O'Neill) and their daughter, Tessa.  Barry and Mimi's first great grandchild brought them so much joy over the past months.

Mimi is also survived by her brothers; Robert (wife Donna) and William (wife Jane) Neidermyer and their children and grandchildren.  Barry and Mimi were married on September 3, 1960 and went to Millersville University together.  When Barry graduated, he became one of the first teachers at Garnet Valley High School.  He retired as Superintendent of Haddonfield, NJ School District after more than 25 years.  Mimi enjoyed being a mother and homemaker and she took this role seriously.  Her personality and flare made her the "hostess with the mostest" and everyone's best friend.  She did work at times while raising their children and sold antiques and collectibles.  Her favorite job was at Chico's in Brinton Lake shopping center. She made new friends there that always remained close to her.  Few people realize that Mimi was quite skilled at music.  She played first Chair in District Orchestra playing the string bass.  She loved to sing church hymns.  Even if there was no written music, Mimi could always sing along, as if she had known the song her whole life.

Mimi's relationship to St. John's Concord Episcopal Church began in 1965 with a visit from Father Edward Battin, rector at St. John's Concord, for over 40 years.  Father Battin discovered that Mimi needed a baby scale.  He brought his over to her the very next day.  Mimi held onto that scale for decades.  To the very end, Mimi had wonderful relationships with her Episcopal priests.  Father John Sorenson has been extra special to her and Barry.
