Nenita Veloso Victoria, MD

Nenita Veloso Victoria, 83, of Media, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Born in Daanbantayan, Cebu City, Philippines, Nenita spent her formative years attending the Colegio de Jesús María. She found her true calling in the medical field early in life and pursued her dream at the prestigious University of Santo Tomas School of Medicine, graduating with the high academic distinction of Benemeritus in 1967.

Upon moving to the United States in 1969, Dr. Victoria established herself as a pioneering female physician in the Philadelphia region. Despite her short stature of 4'11", she was remarkably tenacious yet deeply loving, commanding every setting with her fierce intellect and compassionate spirit. She began her medical career as an intern at Misericordia Hospital (Mercy Catholic Medical Center). She was then assigned to the Department of Pediatrics at Philadelphia General Hospital, completing her residency in 1970.

She successfully passed the American Board of Pediatrics examination in 1972, the same year she received her licensure from the State Board of Medical Education & Licensure and served as a Community Pediatrics Fellow at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Driven by a commitment to serve those most vulnerable, she was appointed a Fellow in Neonatology at Jeanes Hospital, an affiliate program of the Albert Einstein Medical Center in 1974.

Dr. Victoria later transitioned her sharp clinical skills to the high-stakes field of acute care, serving as an Emergency Medicine Physician at Sacred Heart Hospital in 1976 and Northeastern Hospital in 1979. To stay at the forefront of her field, she completed advanced postgraduate training in trauma management at New York University Medical School and Harvard Medical School.

From 1967 until her retirement in 2010, she capped her remarkable 43-year medical journey by serving as a devoted House Physician at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media, Pennsylvania. Throughout her decades of service, she stood as a model of sacrifice, comforting countless patients and inspiring her hospital colleagues with her exceptional clinical skills and kind bedside manner.

Dr. Victoria was widely respected by her peers and held numerous professional distinctions. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society (since 1978), the Philippine Medical Association, received recognition from the American Medical Association, and was a proud Life Member of the Thomas Jefferson Medical College Alumni Association.

Beyond her extraordinary medical career, Nenita was a woman of deep faith and devotion. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Media since 1979, the school where her children and three of her grandchildren graduated. Over nearly five decades, she actively shared her faith as a lector and regularly spent quiet, prayerful hours in Eucharistic Adoration. Her spiritual dedication brought great warmth to her church community.

Above all else, Nenita was the cherished matriarch of her family. On February 2, 1974, she wed her beloved husband, Maximo Roberto Victoria, Jr., with whom she shared over 52 years of deep love, partnership, and cherished memories. As a deeply devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, she poured her entire heart into her home, guiding her family with wisdom, grace, and unconditional love.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Sofronio T. Veloso and Loreto (Gonzalez) Veloso, as well as her two siblings, Emmanuel Veloso and Aurora Caliboso.

Nenita is survived by her devoted husband, Maximo Roberto Victoria, Jr.; her three children, Angelo Victoria (Rose), Mark Victoria (Ginger), and Nathan Victoria (Matthew); her brother, Salvador Veloso (Rosalina); and her nine cherished grandchildren: Colin, Ryan, Caroline, Connor, Meredith, Carson, Maggie, Aaliyah, and Myles. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Abelardo Caliboso (Adoracion), who was previously married to her late sister, Aurora; her loving niece, Abigail Caliboso Larkins (Antonio); and Abigail's daughter, Alyvia.

Dr. Nenita Veloso Victoria lived a full life defined by faith, compassion, and unwavering service to others. Whether caring for the sick or nurturing her family with boundless love, she gave of herself wholeheartedly. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched as a physician, a devoted wife and mother, a proud grandmother, and a faithful servant of God. Though she will be deeply missed, her kindness, wisdom, and steadfast love will remain forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in the eternal peace of God's loving embrace.
