June 22, 1930 – June 3, 2021
Nicholas A. Massi Sr., age 90, passed peacefully June 3, 2021. Nick was born and raised in Chester and was a graduate of Chester High School. He has been a resident of Woodlyn for the past 55 years. Nick worked for Westinghouse as a supervisor in the Turbine division, and after his retirement Nick worked for Community Transit, Delco Housing Authority and also owned Massi's Bakery Outlet.
Nick loved all types of sports and coached football, basketball and baseball for the Our Lady of Peace CYO, and the Ridley Twp. Young Republicans Baseball Team. Tinkering and woodworking were also hobbies. He loved his family and was committed to making sure that all knew of his support to achieve their highest potential. He loved going to his summer home in Margate and having his entire family there to enjoy. Nick's children and grandchildren were the pride of his life. The legacy of Nick's kind spirit, passion for sports, and zest for life will live on through them.
Nick proudly served in the United States Army where he was in Special Services. The Army saw how accurate he was in hand grenade training and was immediately recruited for the Army Baseball Team, where he played with many professional athletes. Nick also played with many D1 players on the Army Basketball Team during that time.
Nick was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Milmont Park. Nick will be missed by all but never forgotten.
Nick was predeceased by his parents Emidio and Marianna Massi. His loving wife Dolores Garrison Massi (2010) and his siblings Sadie Long, Tony Palma, Steve Palma, Theresa Pepe, Elizabeth Panowitz, Josephine Frederick, Marie Tancredi, Barney Massi, and Angie Greto.
SURVIVORS: His children Stephen Massi (Susan), Cynthia Massi Borish (Scott), and Nicholas (Rocky) Massi Jr. (Linda), his cherished Grandchildren Lindsay, Lauren, Stephen, and Rebecca, and his beloved dog Marbles.
VISITATION Wednesday June 9, 2021 from 10:00am-11:45am at the Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave, Aston.
FUNERAL LITURGY: Wednesday at 12 NOON at the Funeral Home.
BURIAL with Military Honors will be follow at Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Nick's memory.
