IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nicholas F.
Verratti
November 14, 1940 – February 11, 2026
Nicholas F. Verratti Jr., "Butch," age 85, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, at his home at Maris Grove in Glen Mills. Born in Ridley Park and raised in Aston, Pennsylvania, Butch was a proud graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1959. He remained deeply rooted in the community that shaped him, spending most of his life in Aston before residing at Maris Grove for the past seven years.
Butch owned and operated Aston Construction; his firm provided paving and sewer services throughout Delaware County. Whether he was laying asphalt in the sweltering sun or addressing waste management issues in freezing temperatures, Butch's exemplary work ethic and commitment to providing superior service was evident. He was quick to share his extensive construction knowledge with his fellow members of the Suburban Contractors Association having served a term as President of the organization. He received a service award in recognition of his efforts to further the profession.
In the 1970's, when Butch wasn't running a front-end loader, he could be found on the sidelines of the football field. Butch was a co-owner of the Aston Knights. The Knights were a semi professional football team in the Seaboard Football League. Notable former players on the team included New York Jets Hall of Fame defensive tackle Joe Klecko and wide receiver Vince Papale of the Philadelphia Eagles.
In later years, Butch shared his passion for sports with his grandchildren; he rarely missed an opportunity to attend their sporting events. Pop-Pop was Justin, Jared and Alyssa's biggest fan on and off the playing field.
Butch also enjoyed spending time at the Jersey Shore particularly when the fish were biting. He was a gracious host to all who visited him in Cape May and Wildwood.
In addition to cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies, gardening was a favorite hobby; Butch had a knack for cultivating plants particularly roses.
Butch exemplified the values of strength and humility; a hard-working man who always put his family's needs above his. His work ethic is a lasting legacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Frances Verratti, and his two sisters.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Grace Perry Verratti; his three children, Catherine Verratti, Nicholas F. Verratti III (Michele), and Anthony Verratti (Jean); and his three cherished grandchildren, Justin, Jared, and Alyssa.
