Obituary

Norbert "Butch" Armand, age 86, of Upper Chichester, PA, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, surrounded by loved ones who will always cherish his warmth, wisdom, and remarkable memory. Butch was born on April 28, 1939, in the Sun Village section of Chester, PA, to Norbert and Mary (Friel) Armand. He attended St. Roberts Catholic Grade School and was a proud graduate of St. James Catholic High School for Boys. Class of 1957. "Bulldog Forever" Butch was a father of three children, and an adoring grandfather and great grandfather. He deeply valued his role as a father and found great joy in the close relationship he shared with his daughter, Jeanmarie. Among the many relationships he valued, the one he shared with his son-in-law, Joe. More than in-laws, they were close buddies-sharing laughter and mutual respect. Butch cherished the special bond he shared with his grandson, Joey and granddaughter, Kaitlyn. He was their biggest fan, never missing a game, a competition or dance recital, and took immense pride in supporting them throughout the years. Though his time with them was brief, his greatest joy was his great-grandchildren, whose presence brought him deep happiness in his final years. Butch will be remembered not only for his hardy laugh, fun humor, and generous heart, but also for his extraordinary memory-especially for numbers. He often spoke with remarkable clarity and fondness about his younger days, recalling each moment with a wisdom and insight that revealed how deeply he understood the experiences that shaped him. Among his many passions, he especially enjoyed puzzles - a love that reflected his curious mind and patient nature. He was delighted in the challenge and the quiet joy of solving it. Throughout the years, Butch found great joy in the simple pleasures of life-especially bowling and playing pinochle every Saturday night with his close friends. These weekly gatherings were more than just games; they were cherished moments filled with laughter, camaraderie, and lifelong memories. He loved exploring both near and far, creating lasting memories on travels across the country and around the world. He was a passionate sports fan, with a lifelong love of Notre Dame football that began at age 7, listening to games on the radio. That early passion grew into a treasured tradition he shared with his son, David and later his grandson, Joey, traveling together to games and bonding over their shared love of the sport. Though he is no longer with us, the memory of Butch and all he gave will be cherished and deeply missed. Preceded in death by his parents and sons David and Jeffrey Armand. Survived by his daughter Jeanmarie (Joe Sr), grandson Joe Jr (Jaklynn) Broomall, granddaughter Kaitlyn (Dennis) McMaster, great-granddaughters Emersyn and Teagan McMaster, great-grandson Liam Broomall, and loving companion Joan Will. He is also survived by his best friend of over 70 years, Joe (Peg) Bell, whose unwavering friendship was a constant source of support and companionship throughout his life. Funeral Service & Burial: Private.
