IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Norman J.
Pierce
February 23, 1949 – May 11, 2025
Norman J. Pierce, age 76, passed away on May 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Chester and raised in Chelsea, PA, Norman was a graduate of Garnet Valley High School and a longtime resident of Aston, PA. He began his career as a blacksmith at McKinley Blacksmith in Aston, where he first discovered his passion and skill for working with metal. He went on to work as a blacksmith for Amtrak for over 30 years. In addition, he worked part-time with a close friend at George's Kitchens, where he applied his craftsmanship to cabinetry and home projects. Norman was known for his remarkable handiwork and creative spirit. Whether he was forging candlesticks, welding, building cabinetry, or installing his own kitchen, he took pride in doing things himself, and doing them well. He spent many summers with family at Oak Orchard, DE, where he found joy in hands-on outdoor traditions and the simple pleasures of time well spent by the water. Norman was an avid coin collector, a quiet hobby his family discovered only recently. Norman proudly served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War veteran, a chapter of his life that shaped his strength and humility. He is the son of the late James and Florence (née Stretch) Pierce. Survivors: His loving wife of nearly 40 years, Mary Ann (née Kulp) Pierce; his loving children, Dawn Kane, Kevin Pierce (Cindy), and Donald Johnson; his siblings, Marilyn Crew and Loren Leach (Debbie); and his grandchildren, Lindsey, Katelyn, Aidan, Emma, and Alice. Visitation: Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave., Aston, PA 19014, and Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
