Obituary

Patricia R. Diggins "Pat," age 83, went home to the Lord on January 18, 2026. She leaves behind a life marked by generosity and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Born in Taylor, PA, Pat moved to Ridley Park at the age of three. She attended Ridley Township High School.

Pat was a social butterfly. She loved to dance, and so did her childhood sweetheart and husband, Tom. Together, they danced on the television show, American Bandstand. She liked bowling and was a member of several leagues, including couples leagues with Tom. She worked as store clerk and could start a conversation with anyone. Making friends came easy to her and everyone who met her, loved her. She was an amazing cook. No one left her house with an empty stomach and if you showed up on Christmas, you left with a large tray of baked goods. She liked playing cards, including pinochle and solitaire. Later in her life, she could most likely be found sitting at the dining room with a cup of tea, a well-worn deck of cards, and a big smile for all who entered.

To say she was generous would be an understatement. No one was a stranger to her. If you were hungry, she fed you. If you were lost, she housed you. If you were sad, she loved you. No expectations. No strings attached. Pat shared everything she had with everyone she could.

Pat's welcoming party was huge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Casper and Gertrude (nee Purpur) VonBergen; husband, Thomas A. Diggins, Sr.; siblings, George VonBergen, Jack VonBergen, Gertie Morgan, Ruthie Burke, and Joanie Ritchie; and many friends.

She is survived by her children, Frank Diggins (Debbie), Thomas A. Diggins, Jr., Butchie Diggins (Michelle), and Karen Diggins (Chris); her grandchildren, Samantha, Kyle, Brittany, Jessica, Amber, and Ashley; and her great-grandchildren, Joey, Riley, Sophia, Damian, Dominic, Brea, Jaxon, Matt, Nick, and Alyssa.

Her family lost a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and a kind soul. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the love, joy, and kindness that were the essence of Pat's being.

Friends and family are invited to attend her graveside service on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Lawn Croft Cemetery. Those attending are asked to arrive between 2:00 p.m. and 2:25 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat's memory to the Dementia Society.
