Obituary

On October 22nd, Patti, (Patricia) Hackett passed away at the age of 66. Patti was many things. She was a wife, a caregiver, a mother, and an unbelievably loyal friend. There were no limits to the depths of her generosity. If you needed money, she would give it to you, even if it was her last dollar. She displayed immense kindness and compassion to every person she met. If something needed to be planned, you can bet she was already halfway through creating the itinerary. Patti spent every moment of her life taking care of other people. This nurturing spirit began in her childhood during times that she needed to tend to her younger siblings. She always made sure that they were safe, happy, and loved. In November of 1978, Patti met her soulmate, Paul, while waitressing at Perkins Pancake House. They went on to marry and have 4 children. Patti's favorite years were those spent raising them. She often watched many nieces, nephews, and friends during this time as well. She would speak of these memories fondly as her children grew into adults. Patti never once stopped being a caregiver. She continued to insist on packing lunches for her adult children for work, cooking for family get-togethers, and spent many years caring for her mother. Patti was the definition of selfless and her absence will be felt by many. Patti was a fighter. Despite the numerous obstacles and health issues she faced over her life, she refused to give up. She showed remarkable strength and trust in God while overcoming many difficulties. Patti was a woman of devout faith, and that faith inspired all who had the privilege of knowing her. She once said that she wasn't good at taking compliments because she didn't want anything to be about her; she wanted the world to see God working through her actions instead. If someone is searching for God, reflecting on her life would be the place to look. Patti loved going down the shore, drinking coffee, and spending time with her dogs. Above all else, she loved hearing her family laugh. Whether it was watching Deadliest Catch, Impractical Jokers, or Jingle All the Way, she smiled brightest while surrounded by her family's laughter. She is survived by her husband Paul, her children Paul, Fran, twins Joyce and Danny, Allie, Eric, Ana, and Melissa, her grandchildren Cole and PJ, her siblings Nancy (Bob), Fran (Donna), Mike (Lisa), and Joe (Michelle), her dachshunds Debbie and Scotty, and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Patti will be deeply missed. Her passing has brought immense sadness to those near and far. However, we find extreme comfort in knowing that she is finally pain free and enjoying heaven with her loved ones that have passed before her. Especially her parents, the late Joseph and Patricia McGarvey. Patti's caring nature, giving spirit, love, and laughter will continue to shine through the endless lives that she touched throughout the many wonderful years that we were blessed to have with her.
