Philip Craley Chapman, a resident of Glen Mills, PA, age 85, passed away peacefully on August 15th, 2020. Raised in Abington, PA, he was a graduate of Abington High School, attended Pennsylvania State University, is a veteran of the United States Army, and graduated from Temple University. After graduating, Phil had a long career in the automotive parts business, most notably with KD Tools where he traveled extensively across the United States.
Phil loved his time nurturin g his garden, collecting coins and reading books of all genre, however, Phil's largest passion was his family. Whether sitting on a bucket as a catcher, throwing post routes, rebounding "made" shots or challenging himself with a field hockey stick, he was perpetually supportive of his children and always in attendance at games and activities. Phil was the beloved husband to Wilma Chapman for 59 years and moved their family to multiple homes before settling in West Chester, PA and raising their family.
He was an active resident of Fox Hill Farms where he started the ROMEO Club that traveled to nearby destinations. In addition to traveling for work and traveling in his military years, Phil loved to cruise the Caribbean and most lovingly spend his time on Martha's Vineyard Island at Wee House on 4 Massosoit Ave. He loved floating on the waves, watching the clouds, appetizers on the front porch and "clam rake and sparkle" on Sengekontacket pond.
Until his last days Phil was a die-hard Philadelphia sports fan often seen in his Eagles and Penn State jerseys in the fall and quoting Phillies box scores all summer.
He was the son of the late George and Mary Chapman and the brother of the late George Chapman Jr. and survived by sister Anne Waters.
Survivors: Children: Phil Chapman Jr. (Beth), Beth Winiecki (Jeff), and Drew Chapman. Grandchildren: Philip Chapman III (Lindsay), Nathan Chapman (Stephanie), Jeffrey Winiecki, James Chapman, Jackson Winiecki, Morgan Chapman, Emily Chapman, and Brooke Chapman. One Great Grandchild: Hazel Lee Chapman.
Graveside Service: A private funeral service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church Cemetery, in West Chester, PA. Burial: Westminster Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
