Obituary

Mr. Philip Michael Ewaka, 82, of Media passed away from this earth and into the arms of the Lord Jesus Christ on February 11, 2022, at Riddle Memorial Hospital following a brief period of illness.

Phil spent the majority of his life in Delaware County and graduated from Chester High School. He was the owner/operator of Ewaka Cleaning Services and, in years past, Ewaka Taxidermy.

Phil was an Army Veteran and served as a Chaplain during his service to his country.

Prior to his passing, Phil faithfully attended Chichester Baptist Church. He served on the board of The Christian Academy for 42 years. His passion was to love and spend time with his family, witness to the lost and to encourage the believer. If there was a church service or a prayer meeting, he was there. He consistently and faithfully served his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ until he took his last breath. Family and friends enjoyed the comic relief he freely gave as well as the truth-based advice that came from the wisdom he gleaned from the Bible. When asked to pray, he would go boldly into the throne room and intercede on the behalf of others. Phil was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Philip was preceded in death by his father and mother, Michael Ewaka and Libbie Skula Ewaka; brother, Timothy Ewaka, sister-in-laws Lillian Ewaka and Doris Ewaka; niece Rebecca Ewaka; and by his precious wife of 57 years, Edna Mae Ewaka (2017).

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Susan Sitkowski (Lee), Steven Ewaka (April) and Sharon Curbison (Dan). Four grandsons: Andrew Ewaka, Jacob Sitkowski, Blake and Brayden Curbison. Three granddaughters: Carli Sitkowski, Lauren and Kylie Ewaka. Brother: David Ewaka. Nephews: Craig Ewaka (Cindy) and Mathew Ewaka (April). Niece: Jen Holmes (Jim). Lifelong friend of the family Judy McMaster. Plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Saturday, February 19, 9:00 – 10:45am at Chichester Baptist Church 800 Cherry Tree Road Aston, PA. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00am officiated by Dr. Joel Winters. Burial: Lawn Croft Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Christian Academy or Chichester Baptist Church.
