November 1, 1936 – August 7, 2016
Phyllis J. Huskey, NEE Tremaine , age 79, died peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Garnet Valley. Mrs. Huskey was born in Elmira, NY, and graduated from Southside High School in 1954. She lived in many parts of the United States, but resided mostly in the Pennsylvania and Delaware area.
As a loving mother, kindness filled her gentle but firm persuasion. Her family remains filled with gratitude for the fine example and steady guidance she gave. Her good humor and welcoming presence always brightened the room. Friendship was a virtue that made her friends know how important they were to her.
Having graduated from the University of Rochester School of Nursing in 1957 was the start of a remarkable career of 42 years. Starting as a trauma nurse and then weaving through many aspects of nursing before becoming nurse and athletic trainer at Sanford School in Hockessin Delaware. There, her care, interest and influence in the lives of the many students who frequented the infirmary stand as a monument to her character. She was extremely proud of the men and women her young athletes have become.
She ended her nursing career to enjoy the pleasant life of interfacing with and helping people at the Shelburne Museum, Shelburne, VT, and then in the beautiful surroundings of Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, PA.
She enjoyed playing bridge with friends and loved reading, horses, flower gardens, and Formula One Racing.
