Randall Lee Detra, age 70, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2024. Randy was born in Charles City, Iowa, and raised in several areas but most notably, Mertztown, PA. He was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he earned his Bachelor of Science. Randy went on to earn a Master's Degree at Ohio University and his PhD in Entymology at The Ohio State University. For 19 years Randy taught at Neumann University as a Science Professor sharing his knowledge and passion for the subject with countless students. During his free time, Randy enjoyed being outdoors. Whether he was hiking, swimming, scuba diving, or bird watching, the outdoors is where he was happiest. He was also very interested in Astronomy and he was a published author of numerous articles in the Chadds Ford News magazine. Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Winifred Detra, and his son, Chris. Survivors: His Loving Companion: Mary Kay Crowley. Son: Eric Detra. Siblings: Earl Detra and Camilla Mallonee.
