Obituary

Raymond Cantagallo, born June 1927, passed away on May 25, 2021, in Media, PA less than 2 months after the passing of his wife Frances Cantagallo (Sculli).

Raymond (Ray) was born and raised in Philadelphia, the son of the late Federico Cantagallo, an immigrant from southern Italy, arriving in the United States in 1910, and Basilica Cantagallo (Mezzatenta), also an immigrant from southern Italy, arriving in the United States in 1923.

Ray graduated from South Philadelphia High School (for boys) in 1945.  Following graduation, Raymond enlisted in the US Army, serving in WW II, receiving the WWII victory metal before being honorably discharged in 1947.  In 1953 he received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Pennsylvania Military College located in Chester Pennsylvania.  He was a professional engineer in the states of Pennsylvania and Delaware and a member of Tau Beta Pi, the oldest engineering honor society.

Ray was the beloved husband of the late Frances Cantagallo (Sculli), and the loving, dedicated father of two children, the late Maria Melman (Andrew), and Frederick Cantagallo (Kathleen).  He was also devoted to his late brothers Louis Cantagallo (Esme) and Albert Cantagallo (Dolores).  Ray was the loving 'GrandPop' of Tina Nguyen (James), Nicholas Cantagallo (Karina), Benjamin Melman, and MacKenzie Melman and the 'Great Grand-Pop' of Kaden Nguyen and Chase Nguyen.

Graveside services will be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 S. Sproul Rd., Springfield, PA 19064 on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 11:00 am.  Condolences can be left at www.nolanfidale.com.
