Obituary

Raymond Francis Cropper, age 72, passed away on October 24, 2021 at Pottstown Hospital, with his loving wife, Sherry by his side.  Raised in the Rockdale section of Lenni, PA, Ray is the second-youngest of nine children, 7 brothers and 1 sister.

He attended Green Ridge Elementary School and then Penn Crest School District in Media, PA.  Ray served dutifully as an Able-bodied seaman in the U.S. Merchant Marines during the period of 1965-1967 with Sun Oil and Getty Oil companies.  Then learning the construction trades from several masterful builders around his hometown led him to set up his own Roofing and Siding business maintained for many years.  He cherished spending time with nieces and nephews and holds dear many memories and stories with them.  Ray also enjoyed studying and teaching a highly traditional Okinawan form of the martial arts, practicing for over 40 years, and attaining to the 6th Degree black belt level.  He had loved working with the inner-city youth of Chester, PA as Community Center Director and karate-do instructor.  Later on, in many diverse positions of the Security Industry he expanded his professional training.  To name just a couple, he served as a Correctional Officer at the Delaware County Prison and Third-shift Security Supervisor for Delaware County Memorial Hospital.  Ray always loved camping and hiking in the mountains of Pennsylvania.  So, he began gradually constructing a future home there for his family while they resided in Delaware (Claymont and New Castle).  And during those years of building, many fun family camping trips and memories were created and enjoyed there.  Ray was someone who always sought out opportunities to help someone.  By his faith in Jesus Christ and indestructible spirit, he showed a zeal for life and living to its fullest, with genuine kindness and honesty toward others. Raymond was the son of the late Robert "Mott" & Amy (Favinger) Cropper, and brother of the late siblings, Jimmy, Ronny, William, Bobby, Barry & Garry Cropper.

SURVIVORS:   His loving and devoted wife, Sherry; and their beloved daughter, Tara L. Cummings (Kevin); youngest brother, Curtis (Jane) and sister, Bonnie Stufflet. Grandpa to 1 beautiful grandchild who meant the world to him, Rayna.  Ray is also survived by two cherished sisters-in-law (Rosemary & Darlene), and many nieces and nephews.
