IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Raymond J.
Hastings
April 29, 1938 – May 7, 2024
Raymond J. Hastings, 86, of Media passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Born in Trainer, Pennsylvania he was a graduate of Chichester High School. He went on to pursue a career as a mill wright at Westinghouse Manufacturing located in Essington. Raymond was a talented mechanic who found solace in time spent on the water. During his younger years he raced speed boats competitively as a member of the West End Boat Club and was crowned as a season long champion of the American Power Boat Association. He was fortunate enough to own a vast array of boats ranging from speed boats to cabin cruisers and always invited friends and family along for the ride. When not working or on the water he cherished time spent with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren. He was extremely thoughtful and rarely, if ever, missed someone's birthday, he was diligent in sending cards or reaching out. Lastly, he enjoyed going to yard sales, often making purchases for family and friends as treasures presented themselves. He also enjoyed working on cars, shopping at Boscov's, and friendly sports bets with friends and family members often centering around Philadelphia sports teams. He was preceded in death by his parents: Silver Hastings, Sr., and Ethel (Foreaker) Hastings, four siblings: John Hastings, Charles Hastings, Doris Bennett, and Silver Hastings, Jr. and one daughter: Ruthie Lynn Hastings. He is survived by his beloved wife: Caroline (Quinn) Hastings, eight children: Victor Phillip (Maryann), Raymond Hastings (Christine), Mark Phillip (Sharon), Michael Hastings (Roseann), Frankie Hastings (Margie), Paul McIntyre (Leah), Lynn Talley (Craig) and Cary Iannucci (Michael). Additionally, he is survived by 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
