Obituary

Raymond J. Waychunas, age 73, passed away on July 25, 2016. He was born in Chester and raised in Brookhaven. Ray was a graduate of St. James High School and studied at Widener, Penn State, and Santa Clara Universities. He was a devout Catholic who had a special devotion to St. Padre Pio and with his wife Phyllis attended his Beautification and made a pilgrimage to his tomb in Italy. Ray was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church where he served as an Extraordinary Minister and he was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #11051.

He began his career working for NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Center and moved on to Powell Electronics, CA as their Production Manager, later retiring from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 2008. He was also a successful owner of Applied Services. Ray enjoyed traveling with his wife to Cape May and Ocean City. He was an avid Major League Baseball fan, especially of the Pittsburgh Pirates. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

He was the son of the late Alfred and Margaret Waychunas, brother of the late Alfred Waychunas, and uncle of the late Deborah Waychunas-Martin and Jennifer Campbell.

SURVIVORS: his loving wife of 52 years: Phyllis; 4 sons: Raymond, Jr. (Joan), Francis, Alfred (Brooke), and Christopher (Christine); 11 grandchildren: Rebecca, Bradley, Rachel, Jack, Hilary, Eoghan, Sofia, Connor, Brett, Dillon, and Delaney; 4 sisters: Eleanor Hite, Carol Oliver, Irene Michalcewiz, and Joanne (Ed) Humphreys; brother-in-laws: Leroy Campbell, Michael Marsich, and Ed Humphreys; sister-in-laws: Theresa Campbell and Wendy Marsich; daughter-in-laws: Joan, Brooke, and Christine; also survived by: many nieces, nephews, and good friends.

VISITATION: Sunday from 6:00-8:00pm and Monday from 8:45-9:45am at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home Ltd., 5980 Chichester Ave, Aston, PA. FUNERAL MASS: Monday at 10:30am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 430 Valleybrook Road, Glen Mills. BURIAL: Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
