Reginald Claude Kimber passed away April 1, 2026 after an extended fight with cancer.
Born on November 20, 1932, Reginald Claude Kimber was raised in Portsmouth, England along with his brother James and two sisters, Ethel and Sheila. He completed his Secondary education at the age of sixteen and took the entrance exam to enter an apprenticeship in the Portsmouth dockyard. He completed the shipwright trace apprenticeship in 1955 and was promptly enrolled in the British Army for 2 years of service where he was stationed in France.
He married Sheila Maureen Palmer on December 17, 1955, and moved to East Cowes on the Isle of Wight where he worked at Sanders Roe on hovercraft design. His son, Garry (Anita Mooney) and daughter, Tracy (Dave) were born on the Isle of Wight. July of 1964, Reg moved the family to Toronto, Canada with the promise of an engineering position at Hawker Siddeley.
He worked there for three years before finally relocating to the United States to work at Westinghouse Steam Division, where he performed stress analysis on steam turbine blades. His work took him to Taiwan, the Philippines, Korea and Japan. After twenty-five years of service, he retired in 1992 at the age of 60.
He enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and ballroom dancing. He is credited with three hole-in-ones during his golf playing days.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Shelia (2003). He has seven grandchildren, Paul, Nicole, Kimberly, Michael, Erica, Corey and Ryan and nine great-grandchildren, Callie, Addie, Izzie, Brodie, Jack, Charley, Kimber, Monroe and George.
