IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard A.
Stewart
October 5, 1933 – December 16, 2018
Richard A. "Dick" Stewart, age 85, passed away peacefully of a broken heart at his home on December 16, 2018. The loss of his wife Joan, two weeks before, was just too much to endure. He was born in Philadelphia and raised in Collingdale. Dick played football for Collingdale High School, graduating in 1951. He continued his education at Drexel University earning his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Sun Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company and The Boeing Company, where he worked as the facilities manager for more than 30 years, retiring in 1999. Dick lived in Broomall for 45 years, moving to Maris Grove in 2008. Dick enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, traveling the country with his family, and his time in Ocean City, NJ. His children and grandchildren were the most important thing to him, they were his center and focus. He was a United Stated Army Veteran who served as a medic during the Korean War. He was also a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Newtown Square.
He was the son of the late Alfred H. and Isabella Diver Stewart and the husband of 58 years to Joan Musselman Stewart, who passed December 1, 2018.
SURVIVORS: his children Richard Stewart (Ruth Secan), Cynthia Handline (Shawn), and Robert Stewart (Lora). His brother Alfred Stewart, and his grandchildren Caitlin, Ryan, Connor, and Jake.
