Obituary

Richard "Dick" J. Temple, age 92, US Marine Corp Veteran of the Korean War, passed away on March 2, 2025 at his home in Glen Mills, PA. He was born in Darby and was previously a resident of Havertown and Swarthmore. Richard was a graduate of Haverford High School where he and his wife, Nancy, served on the class reunion committee for 60 years. Upon graduation, Mr. Temple proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp, spending more than a year deployed on the front lines in Korea. After the service Richard went to work, retiring from Oscar Mayer Co. in Philadelphia, PA, after 31 years. Richard continued working, taking a job with his brother and son in the auto parts business. Prior to his final retirement, Richard worked as a paraprofessional helping students with special needs in the Garnet Valley School District. In their free time, Richard and Nancy loved to travel and covered almost all 50 states and most of Canada. The couple cherished the time they spent with their family, especially their grandchildren, always looking forward to family vacations and supporting their grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their sporting events and school events. For about 60 years Richard was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Havertown, where he and his wife Nancy met while they were in Jr High School. Mr. Temple was the husband of the late Nancy (Fullmer) Temple, the love of his life, son of the late Edna & Richard Temple, brother of the late Gordon (Ted) Temple, father of the late Rich Temple and Debbie Donkin, grandfather of the late James E. Donkin, and great grandfather to the late Makenzie Temple. Survivors: Son: Ronald Temple (Joanne) of Glen Mills. Daughter: Donna Cornish of Glen Mills. He is also survived by 12 Grandchildren & 8 Great Grandchildren, several nieces & nephews, and his Godchild Linda Wesolowski. Visitation: Sunday, March 9, 2025, 3:00pm-5:00pm and Monday, March 10, 2025, 10:30am-11:30am at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave., Aston, PA 19014. Funeral Service: Monday, March 10, 2025, 11:30am, at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home. Burial at Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer. In lieu of flowers: Donations may be made to Holmes Fire Company in memory of Rich Temple, his son, at Holmes Fire Company P.O. Box 85, Holmes PA 19043 and/or Ridley Park Fire Company in memory of Debbie Temple Donkin, his daughter, at www.rpfd.com/donations .
