IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Thomas
Ross
January 15, 1942 – September 2, 2024
Robert Thomas Ross, Sr, age 82, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024, Robert was born to Thomas and Jeannette (Hickman) Ross in Chester, PA and was raised in Linwood, PA. He was a proud 1959 graduate of Chichester High School and Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, DE. Bob spent several years working at Sun Oil Refinery and the majority of his long career in the automotive industry as a dealership controller and administrator. Bob married Marilyn C. Ross in 1964, and they raised their family in Glen Mills, PA where he lived with his wife of 57 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, vacationing in Rehoboth Beach, DE and on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. His hobbies included: working in the yard, cooking and baking, watching cowboy movies, taking walks and listening to sports talk radio. He was a gracious host over the holidays and always welcomed his family with good food and company. He also enjoyed watching sports on television including Penn State Football, the Phillies, and Eagles. He was a devoted member of St Cornelius Catholic Church in Chadds Ford, PA and a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. Bob always had kind words and offered lively conversation to everyone he encountered. He often remarked his childhood, school years and Boy Scouts were some of the best times of his life. He could effortlessly recall names of teachers and classmates from every year of school. He enjoyed playing high school sports including football and baseball - leading to his love of college football and his beloved Phillies. Bob recently reunited with old high school buddies for poker games - and often said there was more time spent reminiscing than card playing. Bob was a loving and dependable spouse, father and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was so proud of his three children and his six grandchildren. He honorably served in the U.S. Army National Guard.
