Samuel C. "Sammy" Ritz, age 90, a longtime resident of Boothwyn, passed away after a long illness on September 2, 2015. Sammy was born and raised in McAdoo, PA and graduated from McAdoo High School.
Sammy worked at Our Lady of Charity church as a jack of all trades. He maintained the church grounds, drove a school bus, as well as coordinated a variety of other tasks that fueled the basic operations of the church and school. He also served as the Scout Master for their Boy Scout troop. Sammy was a talented musician, playing the accordion at weddings and in parks in bands such as 5 Hits and a Miss, The Westerners, and the Plaids. He was an incredible cook and was most notably known for his Italian food. His greatest love was his family, most notably his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was the son of the late Joseph and Frances (Compana) Ritz, and the brother of 9 late brothers and 5 late sisters.
SURVIVORS: His loving wife: Rose (Papi) Ritz; his children: Ricardo Ritz and Debbie Palmentieri; his granddaughters: Dawn, Sherri, and Alicia; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, September 10 from 9:30-10:30am at St. John Fisher Church, 4225 Chichester Ave., Boothwyn, PA. Funeral mass: Thursday, September 10, at 10:30am at St. John Fisher Church. Burial: Private.
