Remembering Sandra Moon (1941-2024)

Springfield lost a vibrant . soul with the passing of Sandra Moon on September 29, 2024. Born on April 8, 1941, Sandra lived a full and fascinating 83 years, leaving behind a legacy of passion and warmth. She was the beloved daughter of the late Ethel Neale Moon and Charles Moon.

Though she never married, Sandra was deeply cherished by her surviving first cousin, Kenneth Neale Groff, and his son, Neale Groff, as well as a wide circle of devoted friends and neighbors who considered her family.

Sandra's early years showcased a remarkable talent for figure skating. Her dedication and skill on the ice led her to become an Olympic alternate, a testament to her athleticism and drive. This passion extended into her professional life, where she spent time performing with the renowned Ice Capades, bringing joy and artistry to audiences.

A proud graduate of Springfield High School, Sandra built a successful career as the trusted right-hand "man" to an executive at TV Guide for many decades. Her sharp mind and unwavering dedication made her an invaluable asset. Ever versatile, Sandra also dabbled in the world of modeling, embracing new experiences with her characteristic enthusiasm.

In her later years, Sandra continued to engage with her community, working at Macy's and as a welcoming receptionist. Her genuine warmth and friendly demeanor brightened the days of those she encountered.

Sandra possessed a deep love for all creatures, great and small, from the smallest gecko to her cherished canine companions. Her zest for life was infectious, and she embraced the arts with open arms. She was a devoted patron of the theater and orchestra, and her adventurous spirit led her on many memorable travels.

A constant in her life was her beloved family home, where she resided from her childhood, through the passing of her mother, until her own passing. This home served as a haven and a backdrop to a life well-lived.

A service to celebrate Sandra's life will be held on Monday, May 5th, at Media Presbyterian Church, 30 E Baltimore Ave, Media, PA 19063. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM, and a reception afterwards.
