Shirley J. Abbott, (nee Smith), age 73, died March 9, 2016 at Crozer Chester Medical Center in Upland. Shirley was born in Bangor, ME and moved to Delaware County as a child where she spent most of her life residing in Marcus Hook.
Shirley was the owner and operator of Abbotts Lunch Box, in the FMC Building for many years. She was the vice president of the Marcus Hook Seniors, a volunteer at the environmental advisory council of Marcus Hook, and a member of the Marcus Hook Recreational Board. Shirley was a past president of the Marcus Hook Ladies Auxiliary and also held many other positions. She was the ambulance director for the Marcus Hook Fire Co. and worked as a crossing guard.
She was the daughter of the late Violet A. (Burgin) Smith and sister of the late Elizabeth Gray, Rita Harris and Walter and Douglas Smith.
SURVIVORS: Her loving husband of 50 years: John Abbott, her beloved children: John Abbott (Rose) and Colleen Feinstein (Harris) and her adoring grandchildren: Gabrielle, Alainna, and Christopher. She is also survived by her brother Vinnie Smith.
