O'Brien, Jr.
February 14, 1940 – September 9, 2019
Timothy Francis O'Brien, Jr., "Stormy", age 79, recently of West Chester, PA, and a long-time resident of Secane and Kirkwood, PA, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Monday, September 9, 2019 at Penn Medicine Hospice in West Chester.
Tim was born on a stormy night at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital on February 14, 1940 to Timothy F. O'Brien and Margaret C. Thompson (both now deceased). He was the oldest of 7 children. Tim attended Good Shepherd Catholic School in Philadelphia before attending West Catholic Boys' High School, Class of '57, where he enjoyed cross country running and long jump events in high school track.
He met the love of his life Bernice at age 13. They were together ever since and have been married for more than 57 years. Along the way they had 3 beautiful daughters: Theresa, Christine, and Barbara. Devoted to his daughters, Tim was also committed to youth softball and helped develop the Delaware Valley Softball League and Kedron Youth Associations. Together with his wife Bernice, Tim coached his daughters for many years within those programs.
Tim's professional career spanned more than 44 years at Broadcast Advertisers Reports (BAR) where he worked as a printer and graphics designer until his retirement. After retirement from BAR, Tim and Bernice moved to Lancaster County, where Tim enjoyed driving folks within the Amish community. Tim's passions in life were his family, friends, and gardening, but he always stated that his biggest accomplishment was his "4 girls".
He was the brother of the late Robert and Joseph O'Brien.
