IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Trevor J.
Nancarrow
February 9, 1945 – March 6, 2026
Trevor J. Nancarrow, 81, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Trevor was born and raised in Portsmouth, England, where he completed his schooling and entered an apprenticeship program focused on mechanical engineering. Following his training, he began his career working in the H.M. Dockyard before taking a marine engineer position with the British Merchant Navy / Cunard Steamship Company. He worked on several ships, including the famed Queen Elizabeth. He was among those selected to sail the historic vessel to its final destination in Port Everglades, Florida. After arriving in the United States, Trevor made the decision to remain and begin a new chapter of his life.
After his initial work in Florida, Trevor moved his family to the Delaware Valley and joined Sun Ship in Chester, Pennsylvania, where he worked for several years before beginning a long and successful career with Interocean Ugland Management (IUM). During his more than 20 years with IUM, Trevor earned a reputation for his skill and dedication. Later, he continued his work as an independent contractor, spending considerable time working aboard the NS Savannah, which was docked in Baltimore, Maryland. The ship is historically recognized as the world's first nuclear-powered merchant vessel and part of President Eisenhower's Atoms for Peace initiative.
While building his professional career, Trevor also pursued higher education and earned his MBA from Widener University.
Above all, Trevor was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished time spent with his family. He enjoyed woodworking and took great pride in crafting special keepsakes for his grandchildren. Trevor was also a passionate Philadelphia sports fan and held season tickets to watch the Philadelphia Union play in Chester.
Trevor loved maintaining his connections to England and took great joy in hosting friends and family who traveled to visit him in the United States. These visits often became opportunities for Trevor to explore and travel throughout the country with his loved ones.
A man of faith, Trevor was a dedicated member of ChiUnited Church, where he devoted many hours to service and community projects.
Trevor was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Nancarrow and Beatrice (New) Nancarrow, and by his sisters Joyce Beale and Brenda Adamson.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Lois (Felker) Nancarrow; his five children, Michele Massey, Adam Nancarrow (Colleen), Michael Massey (Vera), Alyson Nemeth (Paul), and Cristina Piper (Caleb); his sister Shirley Holford (John); as well as 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom will carry forward his legacy of dedication, craftsmanship, and love of family.
