Obituary

Walter Raymond Birney, also known as Wally or Taters, a longtime resident of Chester, PA, age 83, passed away on November 26, 2019. Born and raised in Chester, Walter went on to graduate from Chester High school. Walter served proudly in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He then served in several Law enforcement and security positions before retiring from the Chester Police Department.

He was the son of the late Samuel and Delia Birney, husband of the late Jean Birney, great grandfather of the late Josh and Abigail, and brother of the late Gertrude Wooters, Dorothy Sloan, Elizabeth Erwin, Ella Mae Cathcart, Charles Birney, Samuel Birney, and Robert Birney.

Survivors: Children: Stephen (Beth), Brian (Mary), Matthew (Karen), and Scott (Ann). Grandchildren: Jason, Shannon, Amy, James, Matthew, Ariana, and Galen. Great Grandchildren: Marcus, Matthew, Dean, Aaron, Gavin, Sophia, Landon, and Gianna.

Burial: Private. Arrangements: Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home.
