Smith
September 30, 1935 – December 7, 2020
Walter E. Smith, age 85, of Boothwyn, died December 7, 2020 of complications from Covid-19 at Seasons Hospice in Phoenixville. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama and was raised and resided most of his life in Chester, where he attended Chester High School. Walter served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Conflict. He enjoyed sports and traveled in his younger years. Walter loved animals, especially his special pup Belle. He was a horse racing enthusiast who owned several successful harness horses. Faith was very important to Walter. He was a parishioner of St. John Fisher Church, where he was a former usher, and he coordinated Mass at Park View where he resided.
He was the son of the late Walter G. and Barbara (Miller) Smith, husband of the late Diane (Welc) Smith, and brother of the late Joel Smith and Charles Smith.
Survivors: his loving children: Lauren (Michael) Lupi, Walter E. Smith, Susan (Dan) Hyland, and David (Lisa) Smith; sister: Barbara M. (George) Walton; grandchildren: Jillian, Michael, Kelley, Christina, Lindsay, Erin, Jessica, Caitlyn, and Tyler; and 9 ½ great grandchildren.
Visitation and Funeral Mass: Private. Funeral Mass will be streamed live on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 10:30 am at www.stjohnfisherchurch.com.
