Obituary

William Walter Duncan went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 2, 2024 after a long battle with illness. William was an unashamed slave of Jesus Christ, proclaiming the Truth of the gospel until his last breath. He was known for his child-like faith, quick wit, giving spirit, infectious smile, and especially for his love for the Lord. Born to the late William Swift and Vergie Smith, Billy (as he was known by his family and friends) grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Olney High School. He worked at The University of Pennsylvania for many years. Billy was passionate about his work and performed his work duties with pride. In 1980 he met the love of his life, LaPerrea, "his most beautiful." Their 40-year marriage was marked by a love that grew deeper every year and expanded with the births of their four beloved children. He loved cooking, talking about cooking, and sharing his recipes with everyone. He was known for his generous cook-outs in addition to being a self-proclaimed "musicologist." William was a blessing to his family, friends, co-workers and everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He was an active member at Grace Community Church at Wilmington, where he was an encouragement to all those around him. William leaves to mourn his wife, LaPerrea, sons, Julius (Heather) and Andrew (Alyssia), daughters, Christina and Chantel, grandchildren, Aaliyah and Jamel, great-grandchild, Ares, brothers, Gregory and Rehoboth (Sovereign). He is remembered fondly by a whole host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by siblings Mark, Michael and Diana. Lovingly submitted, the Family Visitation: Wednesday, June 12, 2024, 9:30am-10:30am at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave., Aston, PA 19014. Funeral Service: Wednesday, June 12, 2024, 10:30am at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home. Burial: Private. Condolences: www.nolanfidale.com.
