William "Bill" Joseph Layer, Sr., age 95, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2021, at Maris Grove in Glen Mills, PA. Bill was raised in Philadelphia, PA, where he attended and graduated from Dobbins High School. William served his country proudly in the Navy and fought in both World War II and the Korean War. After World War II, he was employed at the Philadelphia Gas Works for thirty-five years and retired as a Chief Draftsman. When raising his family he was an active member of St. Matthew's Parrish in Northeast Philadelphia.  Later in life, he was a member of St. Thomas The Apostle Church in Glen Mills, PA and in his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, bowling and especially traveling.

William was the son of the late Frances and Walter Layer Sr. and loving husband of 62 years to the late Alice Layer (Nee Ford). He was brother to the late Walter Layer Jr., Frank Layer, and Norman Layer and grandfather to the late Eric Layer.

SURVIVORS: His loving children William Layer Jr. (Ann), Mark Layer (Vibeke), Diane Nardone (Donald), and Gregg Layer. His precious grandchildren Harrison Layer, Kelsay Layer (Chase Finch), Colin Nardone, Evan Nardone(Ashley Traczuk) and Bryan Nardone.

Visitation:  Friday October 22nd from 10:15am-11:15am at St. Thomas The Apostle Church, 430 Valleybrook Road, Glen Mills, PA 19342

Funeral Mass:  Friday October 22nd at 11:30 am at St. Thomas The Apostle Church

Burial: Ivy Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA  19150
