William Michael Miele Sr. "Bill", age 97 passed away peacefully on Monday, July 3, 2023, in Eastham, Massachusetts. Bill was raised in Chester, Pa. and was a graduate of Chester High School. Following high school he went onto get a bachelor's degree from East Stroudsburg University, and two master's degrees, one from Temple University and one from Villanova University. After graduating he worked as a Phys Ed teacher in Chester for a few years. Bill then went on to work as a guidance counselor for P.S. Dupont Middle School and High School in Wilimington, DE, where he eventually retired. Bill was a proud veteran of the US Navy and served in WWII on the USS Miantonomah until it hit a German Mine and sank. After the USS Miantonomah sank he was deployed on the USS Perkins until the end of the war. Bill was quite the conversationalist and loved to talk to people. He was known for his many funny stories and sayings, and did not refrain from telling them over and over. In his spare time he also enjoyed playing pool. Even in to his later years he was still a pool shark and able to beat everybody that he played. Bill loved listening to music especially Barbara Streisand and Frank Sinatra. He was known to sing at the top of his lungs the Bluebird of Happiness and with intense emotion every time. He worked out and went swimming at a gym regularly until the age of 93 and continued to exercise until the day before he died. On top of all of that Bill loved to go to the beach and eat seafood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pompilio and Sabina Miele, his wife, Lucy, his siblings, Joe, Tony, Teresa, Pomp, and Jim, and his son-in-law Michael. Survivors: his children, Deborah (Bill), Donna (Earle), and Bill Jr (Kathy); grandchildren, Jenny (Chris), Anthony (Tammy), Nicholas, Christopher, and Samantha; and great-grandson, Bo. Visitation: Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 9:30am - 10:30am at St. Dorothy Catholic Church, 4910 Township Line Rd, Drexel Hill, PA 19026 Funeral Mass: Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 10:30am at St. Dorothy Catholic Church.
