William C
Pyne
September 14, 1943 – February 15, 2026
William C. Pyne, III, affectionately known as "Bill" and "Guy", age 82, entered into the presence of our Lord and Savior on February 15, 2026.
Bill was born in Rye, NY, and moved to Delaware County at a young age. He attended Monsignor Bonner High School graduating with the Class of 1961 and went on to graduate from Villanova University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Directly out of college, Bill began his career in education at St. Thomas More High School from 1965 until its closing in 1975. He was a teacher and administrator/disciplinarian, as well as a coach for basketball, baseball and bowling. Bill was one of the most beloved and well-respected lay teachers at STM. He would introduce himself to the freshman assembly by saying, "If I don't know your name, it's a good thing." Bill was a shaper of young men according to his former students and teachers. He later taught at Archbishop Carroll Boys High School from 1975 to 1980 and also assumed the role of Business Administrator. In 1980, he was recruited to join Shared Medical Systems (now Siemens) as a Manager of Administration, where he remained until his retirement in 2007. His former employees share that Bill was a great boss, always fair and supportive. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched. Bill also held 2 part-time jobs which he thoroughly enjoyed. First, working as a bartender for the Philadelphia Phillies in their Press Box where he had the pleasure of serving then President Gerald Ford. Later, he worked as a bartender at the Vesper Club in Philadelphia where he met many local politicians and celebrities. Oh, the stories he would share!!
Bill's primary residence was in Garnet Valley, PA, but he also had a summer cottage at the New Jersey shore where he spent countless hours working on his luscious green lawn. For many years, he enjoyed wintering as a Florida "snowbird". He will be remembered by his warm smile, his golden tan, and his love of the sun and sea. Hobbies included bowling, golfing, reading, and traveling, especially cruising.
Throughout his life, Bill's faith remained very important to him. He attended St. Alice Catholic Church as a young man, later worshiped at SS. Simon and Jude while raising his family, and more recently was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Aston. He was a devoted parishioner and faithful servant. Bill attended daily mass, followed by praying the Holy Rosary with his group of lady friends. He also was a member of the men's gathering, a local group who met weekly to pray and share their journey with the Lord. Prayerfully, his love and dedication to our Blessed Mother and her Son have earned him a place in heaven.
He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 22 years, Carol A. Pyne; his loving children, sons James J. Pyne (JoAnn), William C. Pyne IV (Brie), and Christopher M. Pyne (Lynne); his stepdaughter, Lisa A. Clements (Ron); his former wife, Diane Pyne; his grandchildren, James, Jackie, Emma, Ronnie, Sarah and Charlotte; his nieces, Colleen Scelsa (Mike) and Karen Strazdus (Steve); and his nephew, Michael Hepner.
Bill will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
