William J Spence, of Wilmington DE passed away surrounded by his family on Sept 1, 2021.
Born in Philadelphia, Bill was a graduate of Norristown High School and attended Temple University.
After his marriage to his loving wife of 55 years, Bette Lou, they moved to Chester, PA where they lived until 1996 before moving to Wilmington, DE. Bill started his career as a machinist at the Budd Company in Philadelphia, later working as a skilled trade tool and die maker for General Motors in Wilmington. He retired from GM in 2008 after 31 years of service. Over the years, Bill enjoyed coaching youth baseball in both Chester and Ridley Park, PA and deer hunting with family and friends. He was proud to be the President of the Delco Shufflebowl League, he was an avid golfer, and enjoyed frequent trips to the local casinos.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, James K. Spence, Sr. and Mabel M. Spence (Theiss), his son, Bradley Carter Spence, siblings, James K. Spence Jr, Irene DeRemer, and Roberta Spangler.
He is survived by his wife, Bette Lou Spence (Bradley), his sons, William Jr (Laura) and Robert (Kimberly), 6 grandchildren; Kyle, Kandace, Erik, Cody, Miranda and Samantha, 2 great granddaughters, Kamryn and Savannah Roebuck, sisters: Margaret Garrett and Grace Bilella and brother, Daniel Spence as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Wednesday, September 8th from 5:30-7:00pm at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home Ltd., 5980 Chichester Ave., Aston, PA. Words of Rememberance: Wednesday September 8th at 7:00 pm at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home Ltd. Burial: Private
