Bud Jennings, 87, of Naples, FL; Avalon, NJ; and West Chester, PA died on September 27th, 2022. Bud was born July 1st, 1935, in Philadelphia, PA to the late George H. and Frances (Layden) Jennings. He was the brother of the late John and Bernard Jennings. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Martina (McLaughlin).
Bud grew up in Philadelphia and began working odd jobs at the tender age of 12 to help support his family. He graduated from Northeast Catholic High School in 1952 and attended Temple University at night while working in the printing business during the day. He eventually joined his father at Mailing Services and on his very first day on the job met his future wife and work partner, Martina.
Bud served honorably in the National Guard and US Army.
He married the love of his life, Martina, on February 8, 1958, and settled in Havertown, PA -- moving to Media in 1969 right before the birth of their 6th child. In 1974, with 6 young children, Bud made the decision to start his own direct mail marketing business, National Mail Marketing Corporation. The business was run from the family home in Media, and staffed by three employees: Bud, Martina and a niece, Martina Scully. The business thrived under Bud's leadership and eventually moved to Broomall, PA in 1987. Bud and Martina retired in 1992 and handed off the healthy business that they had built to their 6 children.
In retirement, Bud was able to focus on one of his true passions, golf. He was a skilled and avid golfer, a member of Chester Valley, Eagle Creek, and Hershey's Mill. He had three holes in one and shot his age (or better) 287 times, as he was happy to tell you.
Bud was the first to arrive at every family function, and happiest on the golf course, or at the beach in Avalon, NJ.
As the family grew, Bud found himself a new title, Pop Pop. He had a very special relationship with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved spending time with the kids. He encouraged a certain laxity about rules, meals and bedtimes that his own children had difficulty recognizing in the dad that had raised them.
Bud was devoted to his faith, family, friends and his country. He stressed the importance of being a gentleman. He had high standards, and held everyone to them, including himself.
He will be greatly missed.
Bud was a devoted father to Rosemary Coletta (Dean), Vincent (Bernadette), Neil, Brian (Lisa), Christopher (Kathryn), and Michael (Gina). He was a much beloved Pop Pop to Brittany Monroe (Joe), Candice Brown (Bill), Vincent, Paige, Sarah Baldino (Jerry), Rachel, Stephen, Bruno Coletta, Dominic Coletta, Lydia, Joshua, Lucas, the late Tony Coletta, and his four great-grandchildren.
