Clark Hunt Obituary

Clark R. Hunt died peacefully on April 19, 2024 at the age of 90 in Glen Mills, PA. He battled several serious medical issues in recent years with courage and a sense of humor.

Clark was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a role model to his children and grandchildren, and he will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

Clark was born on November 18, 1933 to Norman and Amanda Hunt in Baltimore, MD. As a child, Clark faced challenges including a case of tuberculosis at age two that required him to live in a hospital for a year. He fully recovered and went on to excel in sports, playing basketball, baseball and soccer in high school and college. After graduation he traded his love of basketball for golf, which he played frequently throughout his adult life. He had been a member of Dupont Country Club and Penn Oaks Golf Club.

Clark met the love of his life, Doris, while working a summer job in Ocean City, MD in 1957. It was love at first sight for Clark and they were married in June 1959. Together they had two children, Jeff Hunt of Wilmington, DE and Julie Scribner of Glen Mills, PA.
Clark attended the University of Maryland, before transferring to and graduating from Towson University with a degree in Education. After graduation he found his professional calling working at IBM, first as a district education instructor, before quickly moving to systems engineer on the IBM System/360 computer. He went on to work in computer systems development at several other companies before starting his own consulting company, with many local clients including Boeing, Scott Paper, the Franklin Mint and Alcoa. A lifelong music lover and gifted dancer, Clark enjoyed social ballroom dancing with his wife Doris for many years. He had numerous other interests including poetry, Sudoku and creative writing. He proudly served his country in the US Army as a cryptographer during the Korean War.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Doris (Nathan) Hunt; loving children Jeff Hunt and Julie Scribner; his grandchildren, Daniel (Lauren), Kristen and Michael Scribner and Logan and Peyton Hunt; great-grandchildren Sophia and Ryan Scribner; brothers Norman and Craig Hunt; and many members of his extended family.
