Helen Arlene Diodato Novello passed away on August 17th, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in South Philadelphia on September 20, 1932 to the late Frank and Jessie (Ledonne) Diodato.
At the age of 18, she and Guido Novello eloped and were married on April 23, 1951. They lived in Yokohama, Japan for a year, and then briefly in Senaca, NY before eventually returning to South Philadelphia where they purchased a duplex and lived for eight years. They then purchased their first home in Sharon Hill where they raised their five children.
Helen devoted most of her life loving and caring for her children as a stay-at-home mom. Helen enjoyed being with her family and spending time with her friends playing Mahjong and going to Bible study. She loved meeting new people and listening to their life story. When her children were grown, she decided to pursue her college education. Helen attended Delaware County Community College where she earned her associate degree in business at the age of 50. She became an entrepreneur and opened a toning salon in Springfield, PA. She then became an independent sales rep for Usana and ended her career selling for Isagenix. Helen's true legacy is that of master teacher; teaching her children and grandchildren the importance of family and what it feels like to be loved unconditionally. What they learned from her is theirs to keep forever.
She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Guido Novello; children, David Novello, Karen Prosseda, Brian Novello (Rita), Denise Novello (Daniel McDermott) Helen Carol Schiazza (Lou); 11 grandchildren, Shawn Lafferty (Krysta), Nicholas Prosseda (Christina), Melina Prosseda Moore (Art), Katy Novello Hodgkin (Josh), Vincent Prosseda (Brittany), Anthony Novello, Danielle McDermott (Dalton), Leah McDermott Giannini (Matthew), Jesse McDermott, Elena Schiazza.
