James Hortman Curry, age 93, passed away surrounded by his family on September 9, 2022. Jim was raised and educated in Collingdale, PA. He was a graduate of the Class of 1947 at Collingdale High School, where he played football, ran track, and played trombone in the band. After high school Jim attended Pennsylvania Military College and obtained his bachelor's degree in Engineering. He used his education to work as an engineer for General Electric, NASA on the Apollo and Space Shuttle programs, and the US Air Force and Navy as a civilian contractor. Jim also owned and operated The Berry Patch Campground for 36 years. He was a resident of the Lima and Westtown, PA areas, where he raised his 5 children with his beloved wife Virginia of 68 years. In his free time Jim enjoyed watching sports, throwing darts, bowling, and camping. He was also a well known enthusiast of planes and aviation, as well as enjoying any and all forms of chocolate.
He is the son of the late James Andrew and Adelia Mae (Hortman) Curry, sister and brother-in-law to the late Aimee (Curry) Wilson and her husband Al Wilson and father to the late James Robert Curry who passed on April 24, 2022.
Jim is survived by his loving wife: Virginia Lee (Stoddart) Curry, his children: Bob Curry (Sandi), Cynde Mistecka (Ed), Bill Curry (Lisa), and Mark Curry (Gina), his daughter-in-law: Beverly Curry, his 11 grandchildren: Christina, Jamie, Michael, Stephanie, Nick, Brian, Max, Ev, Sarah, Alec, and Dony, as well as his 12 great grandchildren: Taijah, Jacob, Jasmine, Aidyn, Ethan, Maddox, Sophie, Lucas, Bailey, Wren, Juniper, and Théoden.
Visitation: Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 10:00 am - 11:15 am at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave. Aston, PA 19014 Prayer Service: Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 11:30 am at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home. Burial: Private.
