IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John L.
Carr
October 1, 1984 – February 27, 2023
John Lawrence Carr, our loving Husband, Son, Brother and Friend, passed away suddenly, at home on February 27, 2023. John was born on October 1, 1984, in Glen Cove NY. His childhood was a happy one. He was tormented on car rides by his older sister, Laura. He reciprocated by singing Bryan Adams songs in falsetto. This is where John's love of music began. John was very close to his little sister, Allie. She looked to John as a role model, as so many others have throughout his life. John spent a portion of his childhood in Washington State, but the majority was spent in Delaware County. John attended Garnet Valley Schools from 6th grade until he graduated in 2002. In high school, John's love of music blossomed. He began creating his own music, forming the hip hop duo, Longtime, with his best friend, Rich Kearney. John's musical tastes expanded, and he began experimenting with different styles of singing and songwriting. One day John picked up a guitar. His talent was immediately evident That same day he realized he truly wanted to make music his career. John began collaborating with local musicians and friends, forming bands and playing music over the next 20 years. John not only had a passion for music, but for helping others. He was devoted to social causes, specifically to those that involved individuals struggling to overcome addiction. John was a mentor to many and often put his own pain aside to help others overcome theirs. Above all else, John loved, cherished and adored his true love, Marlee, who he met in 2018. Together with Marlee, along with their dog Lily and cat Poppy, John's life was complete. John married the love of his life on October 15, 2022, at the Moshulu in Philadelphia, surrounded by his friends and family- so many of the lives he helped shape and inspire. John appreciated the things in life we often take for granted. Friends and family. A good inside joke. Delco accents. Fast roller coasters. Music. Multi-course meals in fine dining establishments. He loved making people laugh, belly laugh. John will be remembered for so much. But above all things else, he will be remembered for his talent, his warm and loving nature, and is absolutely undeniable sense of humor. John was the son of the late John M Carr. He is survived by his wife Marlee Carr (Wilson), his Mother, Mary Carr, his sisters Laura Faye Halm (Matt Halm) and Allie Abetti (Jonathan), his nephews Arlo, Jonas and Sawyer, his dog Lily, his cat Poppy, and so many friends and family.
