John J. May

John J. May, age 69, a lifelong resident of Chester, PA passed away on October 5, 2023.
John was born, raised and educated in Chester, where he graduated from St. Anthony's Parochial School in 1968 and St. James Boy's Catholic High School in 1972. During his time at St. James he was a member of their 1972 championship baseball team. John was a longtime member of St. Katherine Drexel Church formerly known as St. Roberts.

John worked for his family business, May's water ice in Chester for his entire life. John was passionate about coaching youth basketball and baseball, and was an avid sports fan himself. He proudly supported the Miami Dolphins and was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia 76ers and the Philadelphia Phillies. In addition to his coaching endeavors, John also made a significant impact as a PIAA Basketball official, contributing his expertise to the sport for many years.

John was the son of the late Samuel F. "Sonny" May, Sr. and Geraldine "Carol" (Jones) May; brother of the late Kevin May; brother-in-law of the late Diana May and Christine May; and uncle of the late Carol Dambro.

Survivors: His two brothers, Samuel F. May, Jr. and Francis P. May; uncle, Carl W. Jones, Jr.; nieces and nephews, Samuel F. May, III, Alexzandria, Michelle Kaczmarski (John) and Kurt Dambro, 2 great-nieces, Elayna Kaczmarski and Isabella Dambro and Kurt Dambro.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 9:30am-10:45am at the Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home 5980 Chichester Ave., Aston, PA 19014.
Funeral Liturgy Tuesday at 11:00am at the Funeral Home.
Burial: Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
