Louise M. (Garafola) Urian

Louise M. Urian, age 88, passed away on June 16, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Louise was raised in Chester, PA, and was a graduate of Chester High School. She had most recently resided in Mechanicsburg, PA. Louise was a longtime member of Our Lady of Charity Church, in Brookhaven, PA.

She was many things to many people throughout her life: a daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, MomMom, GG, aunt, and friend. She and her husband of 66 years, George, raised three children and were beloved grandparents of seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is remembered fondly as someone who would do anything for her family and gave them anything she could.

In addition to her family, her greatest joy in life came from the countless students whose lives she touched as an aide at the Main Street School. In her nearly 40 years at the school, she had a knack for making the kids feel seen and special- even if she did need to blow her whistle frequently on the playground. She knew all of their stories, and was widely known in the community in return. Even her grandchildren recall being out to dinner or shopping with their MomMom, and former students approaching to give her a hug and a thank you to "Ms. U.".

When she wasn't with her students or family, she enjoyed country line dancing and spending time with her friends. She was an animal lover who always allowed the litters of outdoor cats to sleep on her back porch. Her legacy is her close-knit, loving family who will always remember her kind heart, the songs she sang, Italian phrases she used, and the life lessons she taught.

Louise was the daughter of the late Anthony Garafola and Margaret D'Amato, wife of the late George Urian, Sr., and mother of the late George Urian Jr.

Survivors: Daughters: Mary Barr (Gene) and Carol Hoy (Jack). Daughter-in-law: Jennifer Urian. Grandchildren: Lauren and Ryan Barr, Morgan McKay (Matt), John, Matthew, and Caroline Hoy, and Joseph Urian. Great-Grandchild: Kaylee Rose Hoy.
