Nancy Cordrey Obituary

Nancy Elaine Cordrey, 85, of Claymont, Delaware went home to be with her Lord on April 27, 2023. Nancy was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania on April 7, 1938, the second daughter of Doris and Earl Knost. She grew up and was raised in Sharon, attended and graduated from Sharon High School in 1956 and graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. in 1958 where she completed her training in Dental Hygiene and then was licensed as a Hygienist. She worked for two years as a Public-School Hygienist in Elwood City, Pa. and later worked in several different Delaware County, Pa. private dental practices before retiring.

Nancy was preceded in death by her late husband Robert T. Cordrey, her parents, Doris and Earl Knost, her sister Norma Hess (Edward), her nephew Jeffrey Hess and her grandparents and aunts.

She is survived by her three children, her daughter, Pamela Liguori (Gary), and her two sons, Gregory Kurcon (Kathi) and Glenn Kurcon, 9 grandchildren, her niece and nephew Karin and Matt Hickman and a cousin, Lori Hendricks.

Nancy's greatest joy was being a mom and grandmom and spending time with her family whenever she could, watching them all grow and find their gifts and talents in life.
She loved her Lord and loved serving Him and others in any way she could. She volunteered at the Easter Seals School in Lima, Pa., trained to be a Hospice volunteer visitor, taught Sunday School classes at her previous churches and the last 30 more years was an active member of Covenant Fellowship Church in Glen Mills, Pa. where she loved being a church receptionist, a Sunday morning door greeter, communion clean up person, serving in several ways with the Bridge Bible Courses, enjoying the Aston Bittner Church community Group from Covenant and later working with other senior members to do Senior ministry at two local Senior Living places--the last one where she lived. Other activities she loved were reading her Bible and Christian books, being in Bible studies, taking long walks, traveling, gardening, listening to music, grandchildren's activities and spending time and meals with her many wonderful friends.

Burial will be private at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Aston, Pa. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Covenant Fellowship, to be planned and announced at a later date by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Covenant Mercies Ministries or the The Bridge Course, Covenant Fellowship Church, One Fellowship Dr., Glen Mills, PA 19342.
