Obituary

Richard L. Koziol, age 74, passed away on July 27, 2022 at his home in Brookhaven surrounded by his loving family. Rich was born and raised in Chester, PA. Rich moved to Granite City, IL in 1962, attended Granite City High School and was a fullback for the Warriors football team. Teammates nicknamed him the "Pennsylvania Coal Miner". After a semester of college, Rich joined the U.S Air Force from 1968-1972, and was deployed to DaNang Vietnam during his service. After being honorably discharged, Rich returned to PA and lived in Eddystone for over 35 years. He worked as an iron worker at General Chemical until they closed. Rich then went on to work for Delaware County IU until 2015.

Rich met the love of his life, Donna, and married in 1982. He and Donna were happily married until her passing in 2020. Rich enjoyed vacations at their Ocean City, MD home, spending time with family, gardening, spending time outdoors, playing video games, traveling and just enjoying life. He will be remembered fondly for his stubbornness and determination - which most times was a good thing, his goofy sense of humor, for being a border-line hoarder, and his expert skills at PlayStation. Most of all, Rich will always be remembered for his love of and devotion to family.

Richard is predeceased by his wife Donna (Whitman) Koziol and his parents Eleonore D. (Raftovich) and Louis P. Koziol

He leaves behind his beloved Miranda for whom held a special place in his heart.

He is survived by siblings Rose Marie "Rosie" Koziol, Anthony R. "Tony" Koziol, Mary Anne Douglas (Martin), Mary Diane Standring (Chris). his children; Fredrick Cubler (Melissa), William Cubler (Melissa), Susan Rees (Chuck). His grandchildren Miranda Cubler, Angela Cubler, Nicole Dunn, Haley Dunn, 6 additional grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rich lost his battle with cancer after a valiant fight. His family wishes to extend a special thank you to everyone who has prayed and supported him and them during this difficult time.
