Richard Pekala Obituary

Richard J. "Rick" Pekala, age 71, a resident of Boothwyn, PA, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2023 with his loving family by his side. He fought long and hard to remain among them until the end. Rick was raised in Chester, PA, and attended St. James High School and in 1970 he graduated from Chichester High School. Rick lived in Chester, Brookhaven, Linwood and most recently has lived in Boothwyn. He was employed at Westinghouse for 10 years and then US Airways from 1990 until his retirement in 2005. Rick enjoyed gardening, doing crossword puzzles, listening to music, and watching movies. He was also an avid fan of the Flyers, Phillies, and Eagles. He enjoyed swimming and grilling in the backyard, but above all else he loved spending time with his family. His wife was his entire world. His famous quote was "She is not my wife, she's my life". His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. The legacy of his kind spirit, his passion for sports, love of music, and his zest for life will live on through them all. He will be missed by all, but never forgotten. Rick was also a member of St. John Fisher Church.

Richard is the son of the late John and Helen Pekala, and brother of the late Mary Lou Nottle, John Pekala, Raymond Pekala, Robert Pekala, and Florence Iacono.

Survivors: His Beloved wife of 48 years Susan Jean (Merritt) Pekala. Children: Dorianne Pekala Dougherty, Richard Edwin Pekala (Kim), and Christie Sue Bonavita (David), his cherished grandchildren Justin Ray Dougherty, Jillian Christine Dougherty, Clara Jade Pekala, Richard Jace Pekala, Vincent James Bonavita, and soon to arrive Santino Richard Bonavita.
