Thomas R. (Tom) Harrington passed away peacefully on December 29, 2023, in West Chester, PA at the age of 80 surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy.
Tom was commonly described by his co-workers as one of the nicest and most decent men in the law profession. During his more than 50-year legal career as a defense attorney, Tom pursued aviation law and product liability working on behalf of multiple Fortune 500's at his own firm Kelly, Harrington, McLoughlin, and Foster and later at Cozen and O'Connor.
Tom was a decorated student athlete who achieved high marks in Jesuit institutions from Scranton Preparatory School, Scranton University and Villanova Law School. While at Scranton Prep he lettered in both baseball and basketball. One of Tom's greatest memories was going to the 1961 State Basketball Championships in his senior year. He was also a club champion tennis player at Philadelphia Country Club as well as an avid golfer.
From his father, Tom learned to love the sound of singing in a choir and countless Irish folk songs. Tom was a 50-year member of the 150-year-old Philadelphia Orpheus Club, where he served as President for over 4 years.
He was son to the late Thomas J. and Margaret (Jordan) Harrington. in addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Harrington.
Tom is survived by his son, Thomas R. Harrington (Xiao Ling Ren), his daughter, Aimee Talerico (Michael), his grandchildren: Isabella, Trevor, Leo, and Max Talerico, Ramona Harrington, and Rebecca and Rimbaud Ren.
Visitation: Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 9:30am-10:45am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 15 E Pleasant Grove Rd, West Chester, PA 19382.
Funeral Mass: Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 11:00am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church.
Burial: Will be held privately at a later date.
